Plants & Mulch – We’re finally Landscaping!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
After four years at Charlotte House, we’re finally adding some much-needed plant life. I’m holding off on anything too close to the house, since we still need to repair the exterior stucco. In the meantime, I’m focusing on getting some evergreens in so they have plenty of time to get established. We also adopted from shrubs & perennials from a neighbor who was getting rid of them! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year I’m going to try this well-reviewed dense shade grass seed<\/a><\/strong>, as well as the starter fertilizer<\/a><\/strong> from the same brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\nTo top it all off and prevent the seed from washing away, we’re also going to grab some of this amazing stuff<\/a><\/strong> we got last year at Lowes. Last year we spent a LOT of time on the backyard<\/a><\/strong>. Our french drain project was a success, but the new grass situation is another story. All was going well until a drought hit our area, and we stopped watering the lawn based on where we placed our furniture. Our new grass shriveled away, and now we’re looking at a muddy mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\nJim’s convinced we won’t be able to grow any grass because of the shade in our yard, but I’m not ready to take no for an answer. So we’re picking up a few more things and getting ready to try again in the coming weeks. We plan to start earlier this year than we did last year (which was delayed because of the aforementioned French drains), so I’m trying to get our supplies ordered now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
