First Impressions of Our New ROOM & BOARD Furniture: A Review
Our Room & Board furniture was just delivered, so let’s review what we got and share our first impressions of the new living room furniture!
(Be prepared for plenty of Black & White images ahead. We’ll be keeping the colors and upholstery choices under wraps for now, so stay tuned as we reveal more in the weeks ahead)
A Smooth (& Friendly!) Delivery
I’m happy to report that Room & Board was sooo easy to work with on delivery scheduling. Our order was ready before we were, so we needed to push back our scheduled delivery date to buy ourselves some more time.
Luckily, Room & Board will hold your order if you’re not quite ready to receive your furniture. Of course, I still need to get a few things done in the room anyway (I blame it on all these kids!), but we were pretty eager to get everything here, finalize the wall colors, and see it all in person.
Delivery day itself went super smoothly, too. Aside from being incredibly friendly, our delivery team communicated their timeframe via text in advance and were super careful with both the furniture and our home. They patiently answered any questions (“How does the sectional hook/unhook?”) and took all the packaging and cardboard away for us, unless I specifically asked them to keep something wrapped.
And just in case you do run into any issues, let your anxious furniture-buying heart be at ease because Room & Board offers Free Returns & Exchanges (gasp!). Yes I know, it’s kind of big deal.
How it Looks: Furniture For Grownups
In a word: STUNNING.
We don’t even have everything set up yet, and the room already looks sooo incredibly different and… grown up? This stuff looks so sophisticated. It’s like our living room finally hit maturity and is now ready to ask our kitchen to marry it. They are SO CUTE together, and this view from one end of the house is going to be absolute perfection.
Every piece feels so substantial and high quality, like you’d be proud to show it off to the neighbors (or the internet, as the case may be). I’m so excited to get moving so I can show you everything in its full-color glory!
How it Feels: Furniture For the Family
Now that the new sectional has arrived, I can’t even wrap my head around how we went so long with an 80″ couch for seven people. We still have our old one in the next room (so the kids have somewhere to sit while I’m working on the living room), but it feels comically small for the lot of us.
The new couch is not only nice to look at, it effectively doubles the amount of sofa seating we just had. It’s so deep that we could easily all lounge together to watch a movie, and ohhhh my goodness is it comfy.
Alongside our Room & Board designer (free for everyone!), we figured out how to squeeze in three more chairs in addition to the sofa, so we’re ready for a crowd and a World Series party – let’s go, Phillies!
We also picked out Performance, Family-Friendly, and GREENGUARD Gold Certified® fabrics that should hold up to our band of bruisers and are better for people and the environment alike.
What’s Next
Leave it to Jim and I to make things more complicated. Not only do we have a little prep work to wrap up, but I’m also going to be making a few tweaks and modifications to make everything “just right” for our family.
To Do:
- Finish up the rest of the wall primer, then move on to our wall (and ceiling?) treatment
- Paint a portion of the new bookshelves (Don’t panic! It’s going to be great, trust me)
- Spray all the upholstered furniture with our fabric protector (Did you see our upholstery spray test?)
- Make a few minor electrical updates and install the new TV
- Swap out the old rug once our new one arrives
- Put it all together and slap a bow on it!
What We Ordered
We’ll share our full reveal in a few weeks after we finish up our To Do’s and reassemble the room. If you saw something you liked in the meantime, here’s the list of all the Room & Board pieces we chose (keeping those colors & finishes a secret for now, though!)
Sectional sofa
Upholstered chairs
Accent chair
Storage console
Ottomans
Bookshelves
So let us know, what do you think so far?
